FASTENER QUALITY ACT POSITION/PETITION (FQA)

The following fastener companies have reviewed the FQA (P.L. 101-592 as amended by P.L. 105-234) and wish to submit that the law is not workable as written. The undersigned maintains that the fastener industry has committed itself to maintaining the highest quality and traceability. The industry has no intent to jeopardize public safety. Fraudulent fasteners are not acceptable in the fastener industry. Current fraud laws must be used to proscecute anyone mismarking and/or allowing fraudulent fasteners in commerce. Consensus standards are and have been in existence for many years and require grademarkings, testing and conformance reports. These concensus standards and current fraud laws are the foundation for insuring quality fasteners.

We, the undersigned therefore ask that you support the congressional effort to rewrite or outright repeal of this unworkable law.
