The Transatlantic Business Dialogue (TABD) offers an effective framework for enhanced cooperation between the transatlantic business community and the governments of the European Union (EU) and United States (US).

It is an informal process whereby European and American companies and business associations develop joint EU-US trade policy recommendations, working together with the European Commission and US Administration.

  The TABD helds its Mid-Year Meeting on May 10, 1999 in Washington, DC. Read the TABD Mid Year Report that assesses the progress made on previous TABD recommendations, and highlights new deliverables for 1999. Also available are speeches from the meeting by Rick Thoman, President and CEO of Xerox Corporation and US TABD Chair, and US Secretary of Commerce William Daley.

  In 1999, the TABD consists of five Working Groups, including a newly-created working group on Electronic Commerce. Each working group addresses several issues, each led by an issue or sector manager from the EU and the U.S.

  The 5th Annual TABD CEO Conference will be held in Berlin, Germany, on October 29-30, 1999.



  Read the speech given by Vice-President Al Gore at the 1998 TABD CEO Conference in Charlotte, N.C. on November 6.
  At last year's conference, the CEO's produced the Charlotte Statement of Conclusions, identifying a wide variety of practical recommendations to help boost transatlantic commerce and expand economic growth.   The Transatlantic Small Business Initiative's next meeting is April 15-16. The EuroTex event in Dallas, Texas, an event designed to create profitable partnerships between European and U.S. information technology companies.
